Topic: Issues with China Granite
In working with a US furniture importer, I recently received 300 sink cabinets with granite tops. The granite is a plain black granite with various colored specks. The finish almost seems cloudy. There are small but not cable scratches on the surface. The Chinese manufacturer says covering the top with some sort of Wax, then buffing with a .0000 sell Wool will cover the scratches and leave the granite with a nice finish. What is recommended to fix such granite. Does anyone feel I may be getting a stone other than granite based on this info?
ok, firstly can i ask you if the tops wereexpensive or cheap? more than likeley they were very cheap, i have seen thistype of stone before, the waxing of this will only sort this out as a temperarysolution and is most definatley not the answer, when a scartch appears on thesurface of granite the only way to get rid is to repolish the whole surface andstart again, and the machinery alone is expensive never mind the skill involved, did your boss just buy these off the internet or did he travel over to china toinspect the finished product ?
in this industry you will to an extent get what you pay for, and you reallyshouldknow the difference between bad stone and good stone before you go makingany purchases and that goes for anybody, research is the key.
I agree withhim, it too much work once you damaged the surface of the granite. Even if youpolish it, you cant be sure to see if the result will be acceptable. You mustfirst inspect the granites before you buy them. Even professional installerssometimes make a mistake in picking damaged granites.
I agree with this - if your grade of stone is cheap, then this could be aproblem..
Interestingly enough; I wrote an article some time ago looking at 3 types of Nero Absoluto for Granite Worktops, which covers the two types of Nero Absoluto from China- One type from the Shanxi region and theother from the Mongolian region of China.
Both types are highly sort after by consumers and are almost jet black with thequality grades..
It does sound like you have been sold something of either poor quality, ormaybe not Nero Absoluto - China Black Granite.
Have you got a picture of the stone that we could see?

Actually, I must say here that it is notreally an issue. China granite, if you are talking about the good stuff, is extremely sort after!
Poor quality stone can be found everywhere- poor quality stone is really the issue!

Some of the responses here are confusing the technicality of reworking stone with the economic feasibility of reworking stone vanity tops.
Hello! dear sir/madam, I'm sorry to hear that about China stone. :( But I have to figure out that the quality matter is not the reason of where it produce.
